My husband David and I are facing an incredibly difficult time as he battles complex heart issues. After suffering multiple heart attacks this year, David now needs specialized care at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City. The journey is about four hours each way, and the stress of travel, arranging a driver, and finding a hotel close to the hospital has been overwhelming. David’s next surgery is scheduled for November 4th, and we’re preparing for another round of travel, lodging, and medical expenses.
Our daily life has been turned upside down. David is unable to work or drive, and I’ve become his primary caregiver and driver. The emotional toll has been immense—I’ve had to use a defibrillator on him twice at home this year, and both of us are struggling with the trauma and uncertainty. I’m scheduled to return to work just a week after his next surgery, but I don’t know how long I’ll need to continue caring for him full-time. On top of everything, our medical bills are piling up because we had to go out of network during emergencies, and our insurance only partially covers Mt. Sinai.
David is the hardest working person I know, always putting his family and his patients first. He has a huge heart—literally and figuratively—and he needs reminders that he’s still here for a reason. I want to take some of this financial stress off his shoulders so he can focus on healing. Any support will help us cover medical bills, travel, and lodging as we navigate this challenging road to recovery.
