In November, after enduring three months of intense pain, my brother-in-law David received devastating news: an MRI revealed two rare tumors on his spine. His official diagnosis is myxopapillary ependymoma with cauda equina syndrome, a condition that has completely changed his life.
The day he got the call, David was told to stop working immediately and head to the ER. Just five days later, he underwent a grueling 10-hour surgery where doctors were able to partially remove the tumors. Now, he faces the next critical step in his journey: specialized radiation treatments in Houston, Texas, where experts are equipped to target and treat rare tumors like David’s.
David’s fight will be long and challenging, but we know he is strong. However, this battle has come with overwhelming financial burdens. As a lineman, David has always been a hard worker, someone who never hesitated to provide for his family or help others. In fact, he officially became a lineman in September—just three months before his diagnosis. Shortly after achieving this career milestone, he even went to Florida to help rebuild after the hurricanes, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to others.
Now, David and my sister Victoria—along with their two young children—need our help.
David’s medical condition has taken away his ability to work, and the costs of medical care, travel to Houston, and daily living expenses are mounting. We’re reaching out to ask for your support to help ease their financial strain during this incredibly difficult time.
Your donations will go toward:
• Medical expenses
• Travel and accommodation costs in Houston
• Living expenses for the family during David’s recovery
• Any other unexpected costs this journey may bring
David and Victoria moved from California to Oregon for David’s lineman apprenticeship, and they’ve worked hard to build a life for their family. Despite everything, David remains optimistic and determined to fight this disease. But now, they need our help to stay strong as a family while he focuses on healing.
No contribution is too small, and every bit of support—whether it’s a donation, a prayer, or sharing this fundraiser—means the world to them and to all of us who love them.
Let’s stand by David and his family and show them they’re not alone.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
