Hi, my name is David, and I’m raising funds to help our small family farm catch up from a disastrous 2023. We were primed for a good year, last year, then I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The upshot of that was a completely lost year, after an investment of thousands of dollars in seed, fertilizer and more.

I was put into chemotherapy and unfortunately, it cost me the year and the funds invested as I simply could not farm. I’m not sure what you may or may not know about small family farms, but myself and most operators are on thin margins anyway as well as faced with being the only people qualified for the ‘farming’ part, that’s to say, crop planning, planting and management.

Thus, with the loss of my skill set, we lost the complete year.

Full disclosure, I still have cancer and I am still undergoing chemo and other therapy. That said, I’ve a better handle on it now and am able to maintain my part of the workflow as long as I can still pay my farm labor for the great work they are doing.

So okay, what are the funds for? We need to purchase more seed, fertilizer and pay fair wages until the present crops planted start to provide regular cash flow to allow us to utilize those funds for continued operations.

Frankly, if we don’t get the funds, it leaves a hole in our schedule and prevents us from working to make up for the lost year. Will we survive that, yes, but we will continue to live behind the eight-ball, so to speak. So yes, it’s hugely important to us and we appreciate your consideration.
