My dad was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 non-clear cell renal cell carcinoma (nccRCC), an aggressive form of kidney cancer that has spread to his bones. In an instant, our world changed. The man who has always been our protector and provider is now fighting the battle of his life. He is enduring multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation with a strength that humbles me every single day. Even on his hardest days, he shows courage and determination that inspire everyone around him. Watching someone you love suffer is heartbreaking, but we are holding onto hope and doing everything we can to walk beside him through this fight.
My dad has always been the backbone of our family—the one who worked tirelessly to make sure we were safe, supported, and cared for. Now, as the sole provider facing aggressive treatments and mounting medical needs, the financial strain has become overwhelming. The funds raised will go directly toward out-of-pocket medical expenses, ongoing treatments, and everyday living costs. Any support will help lift some of this heavy burden so my dad can focus on what matters most: healing.
To know my dad is truly to love him. He is kind, selfless, and always the first to show up when someone needs help. Today, I’m humbly asking for that same love and support in return—whether through prayers, a donation, or simply sharing this GoFundMe page. Spreading awareness about kidney cancer, often called the silent killer, is also deeply important to us. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with our family during this incredibly difficult time. Your kindness, generosity, and prayers mean more than we could ever put into words.
With much appreciation,
Alyssa Gomes
Update On My Dad’s Battle
First, we want to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the continued prayers, love, and support you’ve shown our family. Every message, donation, and prayer truly means more than we can put into words.
We wanted to share an update on my dad’s fight against stage 4 kidney cancer. He has just completed his 5th round of radiation and will continue radiation treatments throughout the entire month of March, targeting different areas of his body. It’s been a challenging journey, but he continues to face each day with strength and determination.
In addition to radiation, he is also undergoing chemotherapy and immunotherapy as part of his treatment plan. His medical team is working hard to attack this cancer from every angle.
On top of all of that, he has been doing physical therapy every single day to rebuild his strength with the goal of being able to walk again. Watching him push through the pain and exhaustion to keep fighting has been incredibly inspiring. His resilience gives us hope every day.
There are hard days, but we continue to lean on our faith and on the incredible community surrounding us. Please continue to keep him in your prayers as he moves through this next month of treatment.
We are so grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you for standing with our family in this fight
