My name is Kayla and I am raising money for my father, David. In October of 2024, he went in to get his normal routine colonoscopy. When he was finished, we were told a large mass was found in his colon, in the cecrum area and they were sure it was cancer. Days later, we received pathology results back that confirmed what they thought was cancer indeed was.
We then were told he would need to have surgery to get part of his colon removed.
Once January 2025 was here, it was time for surgery. During this surgery, the surgeon told us he would be taking out part of his colon where the mass is and reconnecting the colon back together. He would also be taking out all of the lymph nodes around that colon and mass. My dad got his surgery, spent 2 days in the hospital, and was discharged. Once home, my dad was doing great, but then we got news a few days later that unfortunately, his cancer had spread to the lymph nodes and 10 out of the 42 showed cancer. Since his cancer has spread to those lymph nodes, he is considered stage 3.
My dad has now been set up to start chemo in the next couple of weeks. With infusions, chemo, and appointments, he isn’t sure how he will be able to go back to work as he had to take a short leave of absence for his surgery. He has a great support system for this difficult time but is worried about trying to get better and still be able to afford normal living and now all his medical bills.
I am raising money to support my father during this difficult time.
