Our dear friend David was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, after a terrifying trip to the ER last November. What started as fainting spells and headaches turned into an emergency brain surgery that revealed a tumor the size no one could have imagined. Since diagnosis, David has endured two craniotomies, weeks of chemotherapy and radiation, and endless doctor visits — all while being the most loving husband, and father to his five children.

In true David fashion, he never complained. Even after being told he might have only 12–24 months to live, he spent his days building garden beds for his wife, fixing things around the house to make life easier, and playing baseball, soccer, and softball with his kids. He has shown all of us what it means to live with courage, humility, and love.

David also has a lifelong passion for the outdoors. He loves hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature — and some of his happiest memories are sharing those moments with his kids. Whether it was teaching them to fish or taking them out in the woods, the outdoors has always been where David felt most alive and connected with his family.

Sadly, after his most recent craniotomy, David was left with left-side paralysis and devastating vision loss. He now has no peripheral vision, struggles to see clearly unless he closes one eye, and cannot walk. Everyday tasks that most of us take for granted- moving from his bed to a chair, navigating his home, even eating and drinking- are now incredibly difficult and often impossible without help. His life will never be the same. The man who once thrived outdoors, active and independent, is now fully reliant on round-the-clock care.

His wife and family have been by his side through every hospital stay and doctor’s appointment. Now caring for David full-time his wife, Amanda, cannot work. The family is facing not only emotional and physical challenges, but also an overwhelming financial burden.
