About This Campaign
Seeking Support to Begin My PhD Journey
I am humbled to share that I have been awarded a fully funded UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) PhD scholarship at the University of Surrey, worth £24,780/year for four years, to research AI for Digital Media Inclusion.
My name is David-Daniel Ojebiyi, a First-Class Computer Science graduate from the Federal University of Technology, Akure.
My journey with AI began in my final year as part of the Microsoft ADC Student League, where my team and I built a cassava disease detection app to support farmers. That project ignited my passion for using AI to solve real-world problems and expand access to education in underserved communities.
I believe AI has the potential to close knowledge gaps, just as the internet once revolutionised access to information. In today’s world, digital media is one of the most powerful vehicles for knowledge, and with AI, we can deliver it in ways that people can best consume and understand.
This has powerful applications across education, healthcare, and beyond.
To begin this journey, I need to cover costs not included in the scholarship – such as visa fees, IHS costs, and travel expenses, which total $8,000.
This opportunity is more than a scholarship—it is a chance to change the story of a young man determined to use technology for lasting global impact.
If you or someone in your network can support, I would be truly grateful. Sharing this post will also go a long way.
Thank you for reading and for any assistance.
David-Daniel Ojebiyi.
