I’m Karon and wanted to create a fundraiser for my dear friend David. We have been friends for about 38 years. David has cancer of the layrnx and tonsil. He needs our help during this time. You can see David’s positive outlook too.
“On July 2 -I posted about a growth that was on my left vocal cord. Here’s David sharing about his diagnosis.
Today I would like to bring you up to date on where things stand. About 3 weeks after that growth was removed. (Pathology said pre-cancerous) the growth came back and once again was removed on July 30 (pathology positive squamous cell carcinoma) August 8 a CT scan and then a PET Scan
Then on aug 25 a bronchoscopy to get a biopsy sample for something
That showed up in my lung and my bronchial lymph nodes. Then following that Sep 2 an endoscopy procedure to look at my throat and a Hiatal hernia. The lung biopsy showed nothing to be concerned about but to watch over time. The lymph nodes appear very active and I have an appointment tomorrow to discuss taking some more to see why they’re so active.
I have had 4 anesthesia events since July 2 and a total 26 appointments. Including radiology.
Today I had my first radiation treatment that will consist of every M-F a radiation treatment until Oct 17. Not knowing what to expect I learned today the mask and machine that will become my daily routine (see pics below).
I have Laryngeal Cancer affecting my left vocal chord, my left tonsil and the left portion of my Larynx
I have cancer. I am a cancer patient. Those words I was finally able to speak out loud to myself 2 weeeknds ago. I can speak them out loud to anyone now. It took some time to wrap my head around all of this.
This has been an unexpected expansion of my life experience. But I am at peace and am taking this with determination to achieve a positive outcome. I have an amazing medical team supporting me so i can come away with my voice intact. They all understand that as an auctioneer and Real estate agent my voice is a very necessary tool for me and my business
I jave a tremedous support network and I am truly blessed and grateful.
