David Small ("Snous") – House Fire in Barbados, A Complete Loss

I have never done this before, but my dear lifelong friend from Barbados, David Small lost his home and all his possessions to a house fire this past week. David is a special man, who has given back to his community throughout his life. He is a highly respected professional beekeeper, and the former President and current Vice President of the Barbados Beekeepers Association. David has spent decades in the study of bees – sharing his beekeeping knowledge with adults and children in Barbados, all across the Caribbean and at the University of Florida. I am personally devastated for him.

I’ve set up a GoFundMe fundraiser to help David in this dark hour, and 100% of the money raised will go to help him restore his home, his personal possessions, and his scientific beekeeping equipment which was destroyed by the fire that burned down his home on July 31, 2024. Regrettably, David did not have insurance on his home or possessions, and he will have to build back from scratch, to overcome this terrible loss.

I met David on my first trip to Barbados back in 1991, and we have become steadfast friends, with him regularly visiting my home in CT for 30+ years, and me and my family visiting Barbados many, many times.
