Support for David Simpson and Family
Our dear friend and fellow referee, David Simpson, needs our help.
David has always been more than just a referee—he’s a devoted father, a role model, and a cornerstone of our soccer community. He has given countless hours to the game and to all of us, and now it’s our turn to rally around him.
After suddenly falling ill, David spent two weeks in the ICU undergoing extensive testing. Doctors determined he is battling Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS)—a rare disorder often triggered by a bacterial infection, where the peripheral nerves are attacked and damaged. This condition can cause weakness, loss of muscle control, and even paralysis, often requiring long rehabilitation to relearn basic movements. At this time, GBS has affected all of David’s limbs, leaving him unable to use his arms and parts of his legs, which makes daily life and recovery especially challenging. This weekend, he was transferred to a rehabilitation hospital, where he faces the long road of regaining strength and independence. What should have been the prime of David’s refereeing career has unexpectedly turned into one of his toughest battles.
While David focuses on recovery, the financial weight of medical bills and daily living expenses and many unknowns about what insurance will cover, every dollar can help ease this burden.
David has always been there for others—with his time, his energy, and his heart. Let’s be there for him now. Whether it’s through a donation, sharing this campaign, or simply sending words of encouragement, your support will mean the world to David and his family as they navigate this difficult journey.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and love. Together, we can help lift David and his family through this challenging time.
Please donate today to support David’s recovery and his family’s future.
