Greetings friends. I'm writing this on behalf of David Ryder. A couple of weeks ago we almost lost David.
So, a few years ago David concluded his successful career as a corporate leader who strove to redefine HR and Labor Relations. He worked ceaselessly to support retail workers, migrate laborers and members of the LGBTQ community. After years of fighting the good fight, David retired from Corporate America to embark as an entrepreneur with his partner. Together, they owned and operated a successful business serving customers in Baltimore and Washington DC. In the years since the business thrived until eventually closing when the couple moved to PA. In 2023, David lost his touchstone, love, and partner.
This blow caused a recurrence of symptoms associated with David's previous diagnosis of complex PTSD and depression. Those familiar with depression understand how pernicious an illness it can be. David shut off connections with the outside world. Without family or friends around him, David sank deeply into the darkest place he had ever found himself. Feeling hopeless and alone, David made a plan to end his life.
When the time came providence provided a last minute intervention that saved his life. With his weapon actually taken from his hand, he made his way back to Richmond, VA where he admitted himself to VCU Psychiatric Center where he received compassionate care. This life changing experience proved so effective, he decided to further commit to a 6 month program in Richmond. This incredible opportunity will equip David with the right balance of therapy and medication to help him emerge from his near demise. It is not inexpensive and his time in treatment will sadly result in uncertainty when it comes to housing and care for his precious pets Bodhi, Bob, and Finn.
If you know David, you must certainly know his generous nature and how much of his life he has dedicated in service to others. Please help him now in his time of need. Your donation will help ensure David is able to transition from treatment back into a safe and secure home. While his pets miss him terribly, they are very lucky to be fostered together in a safe, loving environment awaiting his return. Your support will help provide for their care throughout the remainder of the year.
Please share this GoFundMe campaign and feel free to repost. Thank you so much! Your donation means everything and will be instrumental to inspire David to continue his journey home to all of us who love him.
We love you David. Get better and remember how much you are loved! ❣️
