All, thank you so very much for your generosity and the love you are showing our brother David. I am sharing the link to the viewing and internment details via this link: https://www.frswfh.com/obituaries/David-Ortiz?obId=46865930.
David Ortiz was more than a brother to us—he was a friend and helped care for our Mom when he could, and his sudden passing on New Year’s Day 2026 has left us devastated. David died peacefully in his sleep from a heart attack, and while we all lived our busy lives, we will miss him terribly. He had a beautiful smile, a sharp wit, and a brilliant mind. David loved reading about medicine and built an impressive library of medical books. He was always informed on many topics and loved to debate anyone willing to engage with him.
David worked as a College Lab Technician at Bronx Community College for over 35 years. His coworkers considered him family, and many others called him their best friend. To David's many long-term friends, thank you for befriending him all these years. We know some of you, but there are many we've never met. Please share your memories of David with us—your stories will help us remember and celebrate his life.
Our family is overwhelmed by the costs of holding a wake, service, and funeral, especially since David did not have life insurance. Some of us are retired, and others are caring for our 103-year-old mother, who is now burying a second child. We are deeply saddened and grateful for any support you can offer. Donations will go directly toward funeral expenses, and your kindness will help us honor David's memory.
