Support David Marchi's Neuro Rehab Journey

Our dear friend David Marchi, a kind and radiant spirit in our global community, had plans to return to international ski guiding after selling Crow's Feet last December. Sadly, a sudden brainstem bleed in January changed everything. Following an intensive brain surgery at Stanford University last spring, David is now facing significant physical challenges as he recovers.

After months of recovery in Bend, David was transferred at the end of September to an intensive neurorehabilitation facility in Omaha, Nebraska. While he has shown some progress in his sight and speech, many aspects of his recovery remain uncertain, and his mobility and motor skills are still limited.

On November 18th, David was discharged from the neuro rehab facility and is heading back home to Bend, where he will continue an intensive, full-time rehabilitation program. Due to his inability to drive during recovery, and limited public transportation in Bend, he will need to rely on Uber and Lyft for transportation to his neuro rehab therapies and gym appointments. While his girlfriend, Kate, along with friends and family, has helped with transportation as much as possible, her full-time work schedule and the strain on others make this challenging as a longer-term solution. Additional support will help ease the burden and ensure David can consistently attend his appointments as well as gain some independence.

Given that he is unable to work due to his physical condition, the cost of covering one to three round-trip rides daily will place a significant financial strain on David and his family. We are asking for support from the community to help cover Lyft and Uber expenses for the next year of rehabilitation. A dedicated transportation budget will offer David, Kate, and his son Talus a sense of independence as they navigate this challenging phase of recovery.

To cover the cost of three round-trip rides per day for a year, access to food delivery and some experimental therapies not covered by insurance, we are seeking $43,375. This budget will relieve the stress of relying on friends and family for transportation, allowing David to concentrate on his recovery.
