Dear Friends and Family,
Hello. My name is Scott Manzi. I want to begin by thanking you on behalf of my siblings, my dad, and my family for all your support over the years. Especially when my mom, Susan Manzi, was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. The GoFundMe set up by the Eyre Family back in 2018, and your generous donations really helped us out during such a tough time. As well as allowing her to fight back for five more years before she passed. We’ll never be able to thank you all enough for your kindness.
This is tough for me and for us, but it is with a heavy heart that we must once again ask for your help. We have recently learned that my dad, David Manzi, has developed stage 3 rectal cancer. This diagnosis did come as quite a shock, but we are very hopeful, as we seem to have caught it pretty early, as it was stage 2 that has been upgraded to stage 3 due to some other issues.
David Manzi is an amazing, hard-working dad, though perhaps I am a little biased, whose passion for teaching physical education, early childhood development, and coaching is infectious. He always goes out of his way to help where he can, and he can’t seem to go anywhere without running into someone he knows, either through teaching them in his classes, coaching their children, or from helping them out with just about anything. On top of supporting triplets who are working hard to find their place in the world.
You may know him better as Coach Manzi, as he spent over 18 years at Canterbury as a P.E. teacher and coach for a variety of sports, especially Lacrosse, and ran a range of summer camp activities. More recently, he has spent time coaching for Bishop Vero and as a dean of students for Babcock Ranch. No matter where he goes or what he does, his impact on the communities and the people is undeniable.
The treatment plan, right now, consists of aggressive chemotherapy, followed by a bout of radiation, and if all goes well, surgery to hit it hard and fast as possible with his chemotherapy starting next week, July 15th. With travel expenses, doctor’s visits, medical bills, and numerous tests stacking up, we find ourselves struggling and in need of some extra financial assistance.
Please feel free to share this, and if you are able, we would greatly appreciate anything that you can spare. Every little bit helps. All funds raised by this campaign will be used to cover medical bills/travel expenses, and any other household costs that may arise during this time.
Thank you so much.
Sincerely,
The Manzi Family
