I’m starting this fundraiser on behalf of my brother-in-law, David Luna, who would never ask for help on his own but right now, he truly needs it.

Over the past few months, his health has taken a serious turn. What started as pain in December turned out to be multiple hernias, and his condition has steadily worsened. He was doing everything he can to keep working and stay afloat, but the reality is that he is now in constant, severe pain. Walking alone is difficult, and his condition has progressed to the point where his surgery is scheduled.

Here’s a quick timeline of what he’s been going through:

December:

He discovered he had hernias and began cutting back on work due to pain.

January:

He saw a doctor but didn’t have insurance and was asked to pay $6,000 upfront. He applied for MAP Health and continued working just 2–3 days a week, starting to fall behind financially.

February:

He was approved for MAP Health, but surgery approval has been slow. He continued working part-time despite worsening pain. A visit to the ER didn’t result in surgery because it wasn’t deemed immediately life-threatening.

March:

Still waiting for surgery approval, his condition continued to decline. He could only work 1–2 days a week and fell further behind on bills.

April:

He is now unable to work at all due to the severity of his condition. His surgery is finally scheduled for May 1st.

As if that wasn’t enough, he’s now facing another major challenge his landlord has decided to sell the house he has been renting, and he must move out by May 21st. With no income, mounting bills, and a house full of belongings, he’s in an incredibly difficult position. He needs help covering basic expenses, securing storage, and hiring movers.. things he physically cannot do on his own right now.

Anyone who knows him knows he’s the one who keeps people laughing, even in tough times. He’s doing his best to stay positive, but this situation is overwhelming.
