Asking for Help and Support for David's fight against Cancer
David Larrabee is a kind-hearted, full-of-life person and my wonderful partner in life. A beautician that everyone loves in a small-town community. When he walks into the room, he has an aura that lights up the room and he does not see a stranger. Everyone around him feels the love and passion he has for life and others. He believes that whatever you put out in the Universe comes back to you. So he believes in putting nothing but positive vibes and love for others out in the Universe. There are always smiles and laughter around him. Born in Maine, lived mostly in California, and then moved to Ohio to help his aunt for a period of time who had cancer.
He is a great husband, great dad to 3 grown kids, and great grandpa to 2 grandkids. His family is his life. In July 2024, he noticed something was not quite right and went to the doctors to be assessed. He had a colonoscopy test done and it came back precancerous. He was referred to a cancer doctor who took another biopsy for a second look and it came back as Rectal Carcinoma. Over multiple days and weeks of going through MRIs, labs, CAT scans, and PET scans, he was told he possibly had liver cancer, lung cancer, and neck cancer. For each site, David had to go through some kind of prep and then go through a procedure to have a biopsy. Each biopsy was a different day for him. David and his family went through a lot of emotional stress of him having one cancer then possibly having 4 cancers and also waiting for the results for each one. After all of the results came back, he had rectal cancer and Aggressive Large B Cell Lymphoma of the lymph nodes of the neck.
David has been treated so far with 30 rounds of radiation and has had chemo treatments. Having to travel back and forth to the hospital each day Monday through Friday for his treatments. He has become lethargic and has a hard time getting comfortable due to radiation sores and other side effects. His appetite has dwindled. He was recently hospitalized due to Neutropenic fever, where his WBC was way below the acceptable range and the body was reacting and had no defense to the outside world. He just got home on 3/7 from the hospital with low hemoglobin and platelets and is being rechecked tomorrow, 3/13, hoping to see better numbers to stay out of the hospital. Further plan of care will be discussed also tomorrow. He is being a brave warrior through all of this. No matter how much pain he is in or how bad he feels, he will not complain because he is still worried about the others around him.
He worked up to the point he could not any further and it bothers him so much because he has done hair for so long and it is hard for him to give it up. He is still worried about his clients while he is battling his cancer. The word cancer is stressful enough and when it is your loved one it is unimaginable. Then the drop in income due to this illness adds to the stress. It is surprising how much burden an illness can bring to that person and family.
We have always been the ones to give, donate, or bring a smile to someone. We would not be asking for help unless the burden got to the point that we cannot see the way out. David has always been strong, determined, and full of life. He has always been one to give and help but now, he needs our help now. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. His family is doing the best as they can to make sure he gets where he needs to be and gets what he needs. He is ours and everyones shining light and we want to make sure that light keeps shining bright.
