Support David de Vriend's Road to Recovery

At Monkless Belgian Ales, we’re more than just a brewery—we’re a family! Right now, one of our beloved team members, David de Vriend, is in recovery after the fight of his life, and he needs our support more than ever.
David’s journey took an unimaginable turn on November 3rd when it was discovered that he had a blood clot that led to the loss of 90% of his small intestine. Doctors suggested removing the small intestine right away or he would only have 3 days left to live, but thanks to a team of incredible surgeons and medical professionals at St. Charles Hospital, David is now on the road to recovery—but the journey ahead will be long, challenging, and expensive.
David has been a cornerstone of Monkless for over 3.5 years. His attention to detail, unwavering dedication, and genuine care for both our customers and fellow employees have made him indispensable to our team. His loyalty and kindness are what make him not just a colleague, but a true friend to everyone around him.
Originally from Coos Bay, Oregon, David moved to Bend in 2019. Outside of work, David is a man of many passions. He has a love for music, known to some as DJ Dsquared, with an undeniable ear for great music and a natural ability to bring people together. Whether he’s creating playlists, attending concerts, or simply sharing his favorite songs, David lives & breathes music. He is also a devoted fan of basketball, specifically the Portland Trail Blazers. David has made it his mission to see them play in every NBA arena across the country. It’s a dream he’s relentlessly chasing, combining his love for the game with his sense of adventure, always planning his next trip to cheer on his team. Another passion to note is his love for craft beer, proudly a member of local beer clubs like Bevel Craft Brewing and Boss Rambler. He enjoys sharing a pint with friends at local taprooms, seeking out the newest beer releases, and exploring Craft Breweries he has never been to before.
Now, as David faces the difficult road to recovery, we want to help ease the financial burden that comes with such a life-altering event. The medical bills, extended hospital stay, multiple surgeries, aftercare needs, rent, and other expenses are overwhelming. And with David unable to work for the foreseeable future, the stress of these financial challenges will only add to the weight of his recovery.
Any donation, big or small, will make a difference and help lighten the load as David fights his way back to health. Thank you for your love, your support, and for being part of David’s journey. Let’s help him focus on what matters most: healing and getting back to the things—and people—he loves.
