To my friends and family that may just be finding out this information; I've kept it mostly to myself fighting for my life... at this time, all thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated and needed more than ever.
Hellos!
My name is David Danner. In 2015, I was diagnosed with diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and an eye disease that could leave me blind at any point. Surgery was performed, but it has no guarantees.
I have pushed and fought to keep an A1C of 5.2; however, diabetes, the "silent killer," has still managed to alter and change my life.
Stage 5 end-of-life kidney failure has occurred, resulting in relying on dialysis 3 times a week to stay alive, unless a transplant becomes a possibility. Unfortunately, also at this time, I'm suffering from side effects that come with kidney loss. My legs and feet have swelled with horrible inflammation and have caused possibly irreversible damage, leaving me fighting to keep my feet. For the past 3 months, I've lived in a hospital, getting treated by the wound care unit and completely bed-bound.
These events have forced me to take a medical leave from work, and I can no longer physically endure activity for an unforeseen amount of time.
I have had to spend everything I have saved between paying rent, bills, and food. I was able to make rent for May, but as of June, it may be a different situation. My apartment has become an expensive storage unit holding all my belongings while I am currently hospitalized. Unfortunately, as of June, I'm not sure how I can take care of rent.
Homelessness is in my near future if I make it out of the hospital with my feet (while still needing a kidney).
I am NOT one to ask for a handout; however, at this time, I am at the mercy of everything and appreciate any kind of help.
