You would think that being the grandson of Bing Crosby, one of the 20th century's most famous celebrities, would have set David Crosby up for life.
The truth is that Bing was so busy being Bing that some of his kid's issues were not ideally handled and they suffered later in life.
Two of Bing's sons killed themselves, including David's father Lindsay. While Lindsey had a sweet and playful side, he was mostly violent and abusive to young David, leaving him confused and unprepared for adulthood.
I have known David 45 for years, and over the decades I would ask if he felt depressed and damaged having grown up with so much dysfunction. While acknowledging his chaotic upbringing, he'd always say how much he loved life, simple pleasures and how he did not experience the same depression that doomed his father. Sports, music and knowing he has friends who love him keeps him happy.
David recently received the devastating news that he has Stage Four vocal cord cancer. The affliction has been a huge challenge, both emotionally and financially. His fantastic crooning voice, inherited from his grandfather, has been squelched by cancer. David needs to undergo radiation treatment and faces significant medical expenses. As he undergoes treatment, he will be unable to work and may become homeless.
This fundraiser is my way of expressing gratitude for the health we often take for granted and to give David hope during this tough time. Every contribution will go directly toward his medical care and living expenses. Your support will show David that he is surrounded by people who love and care about him. David needs $5500 to pay for chemo and keep a roof over his head until he completes treatment and can go back to work.
Thank you for your donation and for being part of David's journey to recovery. Any help you can give him comes with sincere appreciation
