My name is David. I found this dog on I-4 years ago. Obviously, he had fallen out of a truck and was unclaimed/no microchip. About 2 years ago, he was diagnosed with something called Cushing's disease, which turned into a nightmare with the ER physician wanting to euthanize. He made it through, and after multiple vet visits, even changing vets to find a specialist, doing holistic as well as medical treatments, nothing seemed to work. Finally, his regular vet did a very comprehensive, way more expensive scan that showed a mass that needed to be removed by Gainesville Small Animal Hospital. It did not go well at all. The 2-hour surgery lasted 5 hours, and the following day, as they were giving him his 2nd blood infusion, he went into cardiac arrest. CPR attempts failed. The estimated vet bill of $9,000 was suddenly over $13,000, and this is only what I spent at Gainesville Hospital. I drove back to Lakeland with a dead dog to bury him at home. His mate, Cookie, is still grieving. Just hoping to get some help on this tremendous vet bill. This is not including all I spent previously on this very difficult surgery, which was supposed to give him a better quality of life, but things did not go as planned. The doctor said she really can't say what happened as the adrenal gland was successfully removed but did test positive for cancer, although it was thought to not have spread!
Any amount whatsoever is so greatly appreciated. The whole family misses this dog too much. This outcome certainly was not expected even though we knew there were risks. This dog was so worth it! Such an odd personality he had, which made him totally unique. Thanks for reading this.
