This is my friend David Johnson. He and I have worked together for a few years now at The Most Magical Place on Earth. Just before Thanksgiving, Dave was hospitalized due to a stroke. As of this posting, January 19, 2026, he is still having trouble with his right side. Unfortunately, because of his condition, he cannot return to the work he loved doing, at least for now. I am not sure of his income status, but believe he is on short-term disability, which we all know doesn't always cover every expense, no matter how much we prepare.
Dave has a surgery coming up to replace his pacemaker, but that isn't the complicated part. You see, Dave was born with Dextrocardia, which means his heart is on the right side of his chest and backwards, making it that much harder to do a simple addition of a pacemaker. Dave has other assorted health issues, like Ankylosing Spondylitis, which means all of his soft tissue will eventually turn to bone, ultimately terminal. But despite all of his other health-related issues, he still got up and went to work and created magic for the guests where he worked.
Now, it's time for those of us who Dave has helped along the way to give a little back to help him. This way, he doesn't have a bill from a hospital/surgery hanging over his head while he tries to make a full recovery.
