David Lawrence has been soothing tired souls with a friendly ear and a well-crafted drink since 1982. As a bartender in Pittsburgh's east end neighborhoods for many years, Dave is more than a familiar face -- he is a friend and confidant to many. We have had the pleasure of working with him at G's on Liberty in the Bloomfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh for the past four years. Right now, we miss him dearly.

On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, Dave went for his usual walk after work. Tragically, Dave was crossing an intersection with the right of way, when a motorist turned on red and didn’t see him. Everything went black, and when Dave regained consciousness, he realized his legs were broken and he was being loaded into an ambulance. He is now recovering from surgeries for a shattered left ankle and a broken right hip and femur, and at 64, he’s facing a long road to recovery in a skilled nursing facility, unable to care for himself or return to work just yet.

Dave isn’t the type to ask for help—he’s always been the one offering support, whether it’s buying a meal for a coworker, giving great advice, or caring for his mother through her long battle with Alzheimer's. But now, he needs us. With mounting medical bills and no way to pay his rent or living expenses, Dave is facing a tough road ahead. When he goes home, it will just be him and Mata, his mom’s cat, but we want him to know he has a whole community of friends and neighbors who care about him. If anyone deserves a helping hand, it’s Dave. Please join us in showing him the same kindness he’s shown so many others.
