Support Dave's hike for Ranger safety & parrot conservation!
Donation protected
Dave Rothrock is hiking for a cause! Combining his passion for long-distance hiking, climbing, and environmental conservation, he is raising funds to support endangered species conservation work being done by Programme for Belize at the Rio Bravo Conservation and Management Area.
As a Rotary Club of Ellicottville, NY member, Dave is dedicated to "Service Above Self" and has selected the Yellow-headed Parrot conservation project, which relies on the protection and monitoring from the Rangers of the Rio Bravo Conservation and Management Area, for his fundraising efforts. Among many other important assignments, these Rangers risk their lives to protect this endangered species from illegal collection for the pet trade. Read more here: Programme for Belize
Programme for Belize Rangers monitor the tree cavity nests of the yellow-headed parrot throughout the nesting season by climbing into the trees to check on the nests and collect data. This work is risky and having safe equipment is essential for these hard working Rangers. In order to more safely do this work, the Rangers are in dire need of new tree climbing equipment.
To raise funds to purchase new climbing equipment for the Rangers conducting Programme for Belize's yellow-headed parrot conservation work, Dave is asking for donors for his hike of the 272-mile Long Trail, from Canada through Vermont to Massachusetts, which begins July 27th.
Please help support this important cause, and help ensure the safety of the dedicated people working to conserve this endangered species! Consider a donation per mile or any set amount. All funds will be used to purchase tree climbing equipment for Programme for Belize to help keep their Rangers safe while protecting the yellow-headed parrot population!
