UPDATED POST
Dave, beloved husband, dad, Pappy, brother, father-in-law, and friend went to his eternal home with Jesus on Sunday, October 13th at 2:51am. He was surrounded by loved ones and was sent out with worship, Scripture, prayer and a ton of love. He fought a strong battle the last two months and his body was tired; he is now whole and out of his pain and suffering. We take heart knowing that as believers in Jesus, we will see him again.
ORIGINAL POST
Dave (our Pappy) was admitted into Baptist Hospital on Monday, September 9, 2024. After a series of tests, it was determined that Dave had a severe blood infection, and he became sepsis. After more tests we learned that Dave had endocarditis – a very dangerous infection of the lining of his heart. The endocarditis destroyed two of Dave’s heart valves, sending him quickly into chronic heart failure. The vegetation on his heart valves started to break off and send pieces of the infection to his brain. This caused him to have six strokes within two weeks. We never knew when the strokes were coming, and they couldn’t stop them. One of the strokes caused a subdural hemorrhage which sent Dave into an emergency, lifesaving craniectomy (which is where they had to cut open his skull to relieve pressure from his brain bleed). In addition to he craniectomy, he has also had three separate brain surgeries where he has had a total of four metal coils placed into his brain to stop the growth of the aneurysms that developed. Currently, Dave is on life support in ICU. He needs open-heart surgery to survive. He cannot have this surgery until his brain is stable. Dave’s condition is severely critical and incredibly complex. All we can do right now is pray and wait as patiently as possible.
Dave has been the bread winner and has supported his family for over 44 years. He has been wise financially; however, it’s impossible to plan for this type of life-altering emergency. Any help would be appreciated so that his wife, Kelly, can continue to spend her time focused on Dave’s healing and recovery.
We are thankful for our hope in Jesus. We cling to the truth that He alone is the great physician. We are humbled at all the God-ordained miracles that we have seen along the way. We press forward with faith because the Lord is our strength. We appreciate the overwhelming outpouring of love from our family and friends. We are forever grateful.
