Update: Dave and Shawn need $30,000 to pay the out-of-pocket portion of these last two weeks. Normally, it would be something they could work on over time. But because they are looking to leave for the mission field, this amount can set their time of departure back a good deal. They have worked so hard getting ready to go, it would be such a blessing to work together to get this taken care of for them so that they can go sooner than later. Dave and Shawn have not asked for this GoFundMe, but believe me when I say that they were so incredibly grateful that one has been set up for them! So, thank you for your prayers, shares, and giving! God bless your kindness!
First Posting: Dave and Shawn Smith are truly remarkable people, dedicated to spreading the gospel and helping those in need both around the world and in their own community. Their compassion and selflessness have touched countless lives, and I have had the privilege of working alongside them on the mission field. I have seen firsthand their unwavering love for others and their commitment to making a difference wherever they go. The world is a better place because of people like Dave and Shawn.
Recently, their plans to continue their mission work were put on hold when Dave was diagnosed with cancer. He underwent a successful surgery about a week ago, and things seemed to be improving. However, on Monday, Dave developed a high fever and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. By the time he arrived, he was unresponsive and had a fever of 105.3. He is now in a cardiac critical care unit, and the situation has brought unexpected medical expenses that Dave and Shawn were not prepared for as they focused on their mission work.
I am reaching out to help ease the financial burden on Dave and Shawn so they can focus on Dave's health and hopeful recovery. If you know Dave, you know he would never ask for help himself, but if you know Dave, you can't help to support such a man. And right now Dave and Shawn need our help and support more than ever. Please consider contributing to help them through this challenging time.
