Dave's Path to Recovery and New Life

Dave Grandell is a husband, stepfather, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle, nephew, and an all-around good human being. Family is everything to him. Dave and his family recently received the devastating news that his foot would have to be amputated. He had gone to the hospital about three weeks ago because he wasn’t feeling well and was told he was in congestive heart failure, which was treated and resolved. It was then they discovered that he had an infected sore on the bottom of his foot, which was treated by removing the bone in one of the toes on his left foot. The podiatrist stated everything looked good, and he was sent home. After 2 days, he had a follow-up appointment with the infectious disease doctor. The doctor told Dave to go straight to the emergency room.

Within fifteen minutes of arriving at the emergency, Dave was told that the infection had gotten worse and needed to have surgery. The foot would have to be removed. There was no way to save it. Dave has always been a very hard-working person, very independent, as well as doing side jobs. He is not able to work and pay his bills right now, and there is no way of knowing when he can return to work.

Dave will need a lot of physical therapy before he can maintain a life outside of the hospital, which will include staying with family to help him get stronger, to function on his own, and perform daily activities.

Dave has always been the person anyone could call and count on for assistance of any kind. He would be the first one to offer help when needed. Now, Dave will need the help of friends, family, and co-workers to help him through this difficult time of recovery.

Anything that anyone can do to help would be greatly appreciated. I can promise that anything you give will be used to help support Dave on his journey to getting healthier both mentally and physically.

Hopefully, Dave can start mending and start a new chapter in his life.
