As we approach the Easter holiday, we wanted to share some difficult news about our good friend Dave Dwyer and reach out to this community for support. On Thursday April 2, Dave suffered a massive stroke while going about his daily routine at work. An undetected clot in his carotid artery broke apart and sent a fragment to his brain which created a life-threatening situation. Thankfully he received immediate medical attention and within hours had undergone a crucial surgery to remove the clot and the fragment. After a tenuous 24-hours the medical team is optimistic that the immediate threat has been averted, however his ability to speak and movement on his right side is severely compromised. He faces a long road of rehab, love, prayers and support to regain his strength and abilities. As you can imagine, this has been a devastating and frightening few days for his wife Christine and their children Matt, Megan and Joe. So many of you have reached out asking how you can support. Offers of food, logistical support and a barrage of loving texts have been needed and welcomed, but the family is beginning to understand the magnitude of the journey they are about to embark on and the impact on their lives. Christine will certainly be exploring her coverages through medical insurance - but the financial burdens during a situation like this are often outside the bounds of medical insurance coverage. While they would never seek to ask the community for help themselves, we all know they would be the first to help others if asked. As such we are asking on their behalf for your kindness and support in contributing to a fund to help with the journey ahead. Any funds contributed will go directly to the Dwyer family. Thank you to this incredible community for your outpouring of love and support and we will keep you updated on Dave's progress through this page.
