Hi, my name is Matthew Ambler, and I’m writing on behalf of my daughter, Alivia’s grandmother, Dasha Petersen, who recently suffered a traumatic fall that left her with a severely broken wrist and a long road to recovery ahead.
On the night of May 22, Dasha fell at home and shattered her wrist. She was rushed to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery early the next morning to repair the damage. The injury was so severe the doctors had to insert hardware and a rod into her wrist to stabilize the break.
Even through the pain and difficulty, Dasha has remained strong and determined. She’s managed to sit up, feed herself, and get around—wobbly but steady—with only her dominant hand. She is now back home, but still in a great deal of pain and facing one more surgery to remove the rod in her wrist once it’s safe to do so.
Dasha has been an important figure in Alivia’s life and someone I’ve known for many years. She’s independent, resilient, and has always handled things on her own without asking for much. This injury has made it difficult for her to maintain that independence, and it’s been tough to see her in pain and unable to do the day-to-day things she’s used to managing herself.
We’re starting this GoFundMe to help ease the burden of:
• Ongoing medical expenses and recovery costs
• Physical therapy and mobility aids
• Time lost from work and daily life responsibilities
Every donation, share, or prayer makes a difference. Dasha has always handled things without help—but right now, she could really use a hand.
Thank you for your support,
Matthew Ambler
