Hi everyone,
My name is Emily Gordon and I’m reaching out to ask for help for my grandfather, Darwin Wilson. Darwin has lately been dealing with a plethora of health issues and has undergone several procedures, the most recent being the amputation of his leg. He is currently recovering at an inpatient rehab facility, where he is learning to adapt to this new life. Him and my grandmother, Diane, are going through an incredibly tough time right now.
Most people know Darwin from writing the high school song from his Lake Shore graduating class of 1973 or the friendly face at a local business, Wilson’s Carpet Mill and Liquor Store, that he proudly owned for over 15 years. Others know Darwin from the hundreds of funerals where he played the Taps for American Legion and VFW Veterans, or merely have witnessed his dedication to his community by lending a helping hand to those in need. Now someone who has always been there for our community, could really use some support during hard times.
Unfortunately due to his ongoing health issues he has been unable to work these past few years. Diane has been doing her best to support them both. These recent events have caused an overwhelming financial strain. With the amputation, my grandfather will be in need of a wheelchair and a ramp to get into their home. With the amount of stress that is caused by medical bills quickly adding up, transportation costs, and needed home adjustments, simply focusing on recovering is daunting.
They’ve always been there for others and never the type to ask for help- but right now, they need it.
Any amount you’re able to give would mean the world to our family. And if you can’t donate, please consider sharing this to help spread the word. Your kindness, support and prayers are deeply appreciated. Thank you for helping us give Darwin the comfort, support and dignity he deserves.
