In the summer of 2024 Dar began experiencing horrible abdominal pain. It continually got worse so her Dr sent her for an MRI. The MRI showed some kind of mass. She was sent to her former oncologist (she previously battled cancer 4 yrs ago) In the fall, her oncologist and the surgeon who did her previous surgical procedures stated they thought the mass was just from past surgery and to come back in 6 months. January the pain was completely unbearable and she was admitted in the hospital. After testing and other doctors reviewing results it was determined that this was indeed cancer and she had to be transferred to Fox Chase. There she was diagnosed with Spindle Cell sarcoma. This is what caused a large mass at the bottom of the sacrum. They also spotted 3 nodules on a lung. The biopsy shows the lung is from the sacrum. No other spots showed up on PET scan but we need to start chemo asap. Monday 3/17/25 she begins a cycle of chemo. This chemo causes the loss of hair on day 17 after treatment. In order to prevent this additional stressor, a cool cap can be used. This stops the chemo from attacking the hair follicles. Each session is $250. In addition, when she was admitted in January there was an insurance issue. We have not even begun to look at those bills until now due to all of the testing and the 10 rounds of radiation she completed last week. She has not been able to supplement her income since she can barely walk. Many have asked what they can do to help. She could definitely use some assistance for her current needs.
