Support Darryl’s fight: An army on earth, an angel above.
Dear friends, family & community,
On the 24th April 2026, Darryl who is just 35 was diagnosed with an aggressive form of blood cancer that has turned our worlds upside down overnight.
Darryl is a devoted family man with a family of five who rely on him every day. He is a hardworking one-man business owner and the sole provider for his family.
With his income now being brought to a sudden stop while he undergoes urgent treatment, the financial pressure on his family is overwhelming.
Although this diagnosis has profoundly altered Darryl’s life, it has not changed the person he is. If you know know Darryl, you know his heart. He is the kind of person who gives endlessly, his time, his laughter, and his compassion. He has a genuine enthusiasm for life and a rare ability to leave every place, and every person, better than he found them.
Darryl is a father, son, brother, husband and friend who brings warmth and light wherever he goes. He has always been one to show up for others, first to help, the first to listen. Now, he is the one who needs his community to show up for him.
News like this is devastating at any age, but especially for someone so young with a young family and already a broken heart, so vibrant, and so full of dreams. The road ahead is long, uncertain, and demanding physically, emotionally, and financially.
Tuesday 21st April; What started as simple cracked lips and a high temperature and going to the doctors for some antibiotics the doctor suggested a round of bloods to be taken as Darryl hadn’t had a general health check in around 4 years. A few short hours later he had a call from the clinic to head back in due to abnormal blood results has now become an urgent fight for his life. Darryl was admitted to the warrnambool base hospital overnight Tuesday 21st of April after further testing then transported via ambulance to Geelong Tuesday night for a bone marrow biopsy Wednesday morning for a definitive diagnosis of what he was going to be fighting. Thursday 24th April 2026, he was officially diagnosed with the big fat C and his diagnosis which is very hard to swallow. He will now continue to reside in hospital what time frame is uncertain, though we are looking at months undergoing treatment with no interaction with anyone other than the team working with him and the occasional visit from his wife Hayley. The pain his young family are feeling during this time is one that a family should not bare and it’s only the beginning of a very long, challenging, isolated road to recovery.
As a family, we want to ease the financial pressure so he can concentrate fully on treatment and recovery without the added stress of rent, bills, travel costs, accommodation, lost income, medications, and daily living expenses for his partner and children.
My brother is a deeply loved person who would help anyone without hesitation. Now he needs support from those around him.
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a real difference. If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing this page would mean the world to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this devastating time.
Please keep him in your thoughts as he begins this fight. You’ve got this brother, if anyone can do it it’s you. Your guardian angel above; Our Brother Kody. Though you cannot see him, he is standing right beside you in this fight, holding your hand and holding your heart. His strength is now your strength. Kody is watching over you, ensuring you are never truly alone
