Darrick Adams has always been the kind of person who steps up for others. For the past 12 years, I’ve seen him work hard at Home Depot, pay his bills on time, and go out of his way to lend a hand to friends and neighbors. Recently, Darrick faced a major challenge: he lost half of his leg

due to complications from diabetes. This has changed his daily life in ways none of us could have expected.

As Darrick begins the process of recovery, he’s facing the need for significant home modifications to make his space accessible and comfortable. He’ll also need support to help him get back to doing the things he enjoys, so he can continue living life on his own terms. I’ve chosen to forgo charging him rent, but there’s still a lot more he’ll need as he adapts over the coming months.
