Support Darren Clare’s Brain Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
Hi all.

This GoFundMe page is to support Darren Clare in his fight against brain cancer following a sudden, life-changing diagnosis earlier this year.

Darren is someone who always puts others first. He’s a loving husband to Andrea, a wonderful dad to two children Tom and Tess, a son, brother, uncle, friend, and he brings positivity to everyone around him.

In January 2026 Darren suffered a seizure a week before his 54th birthday. After undergoing neurosurgery, he was diagnosed in April 2026 with a grade four tumour glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), an aggressive form of brain cancer for which there is currently no cure.

Glioblastoma outcomes are consistently ranked amongst the worst of all cancers. Standard treatment available in the UK typically offers a prognosis of only 12–18 months.

Despite everything, he has faced this with incredible bravery and resilience. As a family, it’s turned our world upside down. We love Darren dearly and are desperate to secure more time with him. Once Darren completes radiotherapy and chemotherapy in the UK, we hope to pursue advanced treatment options abroad.

Treatments such as immunotherapy, personalised therapies and dendritic cell vaccines are not available through standard NHS pathways. However, clinics in Europe and the US are seeing promising results in extending survival and improving quality of life. We are trying to give Darren every possible chance. These treatments are very expensive and can exceed £200,000, especially as multiple rounds of treatment may be needed.

For us, more time with Darren would mean everything. Please donate anything you can, and please share our fundraiser to help reach as many people as possible. We are deeply grateful for every donation, message and act of support from friends, family and strangers alike. Thank you.

As part of this fundraiser, Darren’s sister-in-law Emma is taking on a walking challenge. covering the equivalent distance from John o’Groats to Land’s End – around 1.8 million steps from April 18th – as quickly as possible. Emma will post updates along the way, and we are incredibly thankful for her efforts to raise awareness for Darren’s condition.

Stephen, one of Darren’s oldest friends, is also inviting Darren’s family, friends and colleagues to join him in walking the Llanberis path to the top of Snowdon and back on Saturday 11thJuly. If you would like to take part please get in touch.

We will update this page with future challenges to raise awareness around Darren’s condition and we really appreciate any efforts to help with fundraising and drawing attention to glioblastoma treatment and research.

If, for any reason, donations cannot be used for treatment, funds will be donated to Brainstrust and Clatterbridge Cancer Charity to support their vital work helping those affected by brain and cancer conditions.
