Updated today:
With heavy hearts, Darren's family is sharing that his illness has progressed, and he is now approaching the end of his brave fight. While this is incredibly difficult, he is being kept comfortable and is surrounded by his loved ones, sharing stories and precious memories. The family is deeply grateful for every kindness, prayer and generosity that has been shared with them in these final days. Our focus is on being present with Darren and bearing witness to one of his final wishes. Rady and Darren are being united in marriage, sealing their commitment, now and forever. His legacy will live on in his sons and his wife. As long as someone lives on in our memories, they are never truly gone. ❤️

Hello everyone,

My name is Becky Heal, and I am Radana’s best friend. I’m starting this fundraiser to help support her, Darren, and their family as they navigate an unimaginably difficult time.

The Diagnosis

This past summer, Darren suddenly began experiencing pain in his side. Assuming it might be a kidney stone or gallbladder issue, he went to the ER.

The news he received changed everything: Pancreatic cancer that had already spread to his liver. A biopsy confirmed the worst, and when Darren met with the oncologist in August, he was told he likely had about a year. He has since started chemotherapy in hopes of giving the family more time together.

An Unbearable Loss

On the same day they received this devastating diagnosis, Radana’s beloved younger sister, Jess, a seemingly healthy mother of two very young boys, passed away suddenly in her sleep.

This family has been hit with a heartbreaking double tragedy and is doing their best to stay afloat.

Darren’s Wishes & Our Goal

Darren is a devoted father to two grown sons, Matthieu and Justin, and together with Radana he shares a 9-year-old son, Aiden.

His biggest wish is to:

Take all three boys to a Toronto Maple Leafs game to create meaningful memories while they still can.

Ensure his loved ones are supported during the time he has left.

Radana, who has been incredibly strong through all of this, is continuing to work as long as she can before needing to take caregiver/compassionate leave.

How the Funds Will Help

All funds raised will go directly toward:

Sending Darren and his boys to a Leafs game to make those cherished memories. And if anyone out there knows someone in the Leaf's organization that can help, please reach out!!

Supporting household bills and essential expenses, so Radana can take her leave earlier and spend more time caring for Darren.

Every contribution, big or small, helps lift some of the financial stress, allowing them to focus on what truly matters: time together.

Please consider donating and sharing this fundraiser. Let’s surround this incredible family with love, strength, and support during the toughest chapter of their lives.

Thank you for your kindness and support.
