Support Darrell Nelson's Memorial Fund
Donation protected
My name is Jackie Schutte and I am Darrell Nelson’s aunt. He is 8 years younger than me and was raised by my parents (his grandparents Blanche & Jack Zembower), so really he is more like a younger brother.
Darrell lost his hard-fought battle with mental illness on Dec 1, 2024. His time on earth was often a struggle against mental illness, trauma, addiction & homelessness. He was actually eligible to be on disability but would never agree to apply because he wanted to work and support himself and his beloved son Jack, who was the light of his life.
Darrell did not have life insurance and although a portion of his funeral costs will be covered by the tribe he’s enrolled in, it will not cover all. Any leftover funds will go towards supporting his beloved son Jack, who is 19 and has special needs. Jack is currently in the Bridge transition program through the Douglas County School District. The focus of the program is daily living, employability, functional academics, and social-emotional skills.
I decided to create this fund after several have asked me how they can provide financial support.
