Everyone, I would love for you all to take a moment and read about a little girl who is so positive, so enthusiastic, and so brave! My husband has worked with Darra’s father for years, and they are amazing people. Darra was diagnosed with stage three kidney disease due to her bladder dysfunction, but we along with her immediate family remain hopeful and optimistic about her future. She has a neurogenic bladder that has caused her kidney disease and stretched out her ureter, especially on her left side, causing her left kidney to be the worst. However, they all are staying positive and focused on the upcoming surgery that will hopefully help prevent her from having further kidney damage. The family has tried for the last year and a half to get someone to do something surgically to prevent her from getting any worse, and they are thrilled that Boston has finally decided that she is deserving and a perfect candidate for the surgery to help her have a better future. They have had almost 14 hospital admissions since her diagnosis in the last year and a half, but are grateful for the progress she has made so far. Finally, Darra is scheduled for surgery on March 2nd; they have to fly to Boston on February 27 for pre-op testing. After discussing the procedure with the physician, there's a great possibility that she will need a left urethral stent and a suprapubic catheter placed. They will have to return to Boston in three weeks to have them removed. As you all may know, this is a big financial burden on their family since mom will be out of work on FMLA with Darra while she recovers from surgery. However, they are blessed to have such a supportive community, and are grateful for your kindness and generosity. If you have it in your heart to donate to this remarkable and strong family, we would really appreciate it. Keep showing love and prayers to this family. They are truly blessed to have such a supportive community and will be grateful for your kindness and generosity. Your support would mean the world to them. We will be thankful for any and every donation, big or small.
God watches over his soldiers whether big or small. Darra is definitely one of them.
