In the early hours of this week, Darlene lost nearly everything in a devastating electrical fire that destroyed 90% of her home.
While she, her son, and the rest of her dogs were able to get out safely, her 8 week old rescue pup, Tallulah, tragically did not survive. Firefighters found her and every effort was made to save her, but she passed surrounded by love. Tallulah had already overcome so much in her short life, rescued from behind a drug house and given safety, warmth, and a second chance by Darlene.
Those who know Darlene know this.
She is always the one showing up for others.
She works at the YMCA, pours her heart into the rescue and foster community, and serves on call helping victims of abuse. She gives tirelessly to animals, to families in crisis, to anyone who needs a safe place to land.
Now she needs us.
• Tallulah’s final veterinary and cremation expenses
• Immediate hotel and displacement expenses
• Replacing basic personal items
• Deductibles and insurance gaps
• Rebuilding essentials for when she can return home
• Ongoing care needs for her remaining rescue dogs
She would never ask for this. But if you have ever been helped by Darlene, encouraged by her, fostered alongside her, or simply witnessed her kindness, this is a chance to pour back into someone who has poured into so many.
If you are unable to give financially, please share and keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she begins the long process of rebuilding.
The Knights are survivors and warriors, but even warriors need community.
Let’s show up for her the way she has always shown up for others.
