Support Daria McKnight's Cancer Battle

I can hardly believe that I write these words and on the other hand, we all know this so well.

One of our very dear and beloved friends Daria McKnight has been diagnosed with cancer and is in the process of going through a rigorous chemo and radiation treatment regime.

I know you remember Daria McKnight, who worked the front door of “the BOX” and “club Q” for so many years and was literally my right hand, and now a lifelong very dear friend.

I am reaching out to our community to help me raise funds for Daria. I would like to raise enough money for her, so she does not have the stress of living expenses while she is healing.

She lives up in upstate New York on her beautiful land that she had been dreaming about for years.

Daria has devoted her life after the clubs to working with youth for decades, and teaching urban young people about sustainability, survival, and self-sufficiency in nature. She was a 3rd grade teacher and Dean of Students at Roses in Concrete at the end of her formal teaching career. She taught kindergarten in SF at Malcolm X Academy and Dr. Charles R Drew Elementary School. Then she moved to Brooklyn .

I am in awe of how she can manifest all the things she loves. She is one of my hero’s.

She recently was diagnosed with cancer and immediately had to have a complete hysterectomy. It was determined that she would need chemo and radiation which she is undergoing now for the next 6 months.

She is being supported by friends and family in New York, but her living expenses are going to be a challenge as she cannot work.

Let's all pull our resources and help Daria get through this treatment, so she can live along wonderful life in the country helping teach kids about outdoor skills.

For decades, she has been there for all of us keeping us safe and helping create a space where we could all dance freely and safely holding down the front door which was no easy task.

Now it our turn to show up for her in her time of need.
