Support Darena: A Caregiver in Need

Hello, my name is Janelle.

I have a wonderful child who has a chromosome deletion and autism. We depend greatly on our extraordinary caregiver, Darena, who helps with appointments, activities, and daily living. Darena has become an indispensable part of our lives, offering her unwavering support and compassion. Unfortunately, Darena has recently faced her own set of challenges with her health. She struggled with severe knee issues throughout the summer, undergoing physical therapy and injections, but found no relief. This fall, Darena underwent a total knee replacement, which has left her unable to work for two months.

After finally returning to work for one shift, Darena had a terrible accident as she was leaving for her second shift, slipping and breaking her kneecap. This setback will keep her out of work for at least another month, possibly longer. As a self-employed caregiver, Darena has no employment benefits, meaning no work means no pay for basic living expenses, as well as mounting medical bills.

I am reaching out to ask for your support for this amazing woman who gives so much to others. In addition to raising a child with cerebral palsy herself, Darena has dedicated her entire career to caring for people with disabilities. She is currently caring for two young men with disabilities who love her very much.

I have created this Go Fund Me in hopes that our community can come together to support Darena during this incredibly difficult time.
