My wife Darcy recently spent 5 weeks in the hospital for what we thought was an abdominal abscess. After weeks of antibiotics, the infection wasn't getting any better, but the surgeons wouldn't intervene as long as there was an active infection. Through a miracle, we found a surgeon who agreed to operate. During the surgery, they discovered the abscess was actually a tumor partially attached to her ileum and her right ovary. The tumor had torn part of her intestine, and that is what was causing the infection. The surgeon was able to remove 95% of the tumor as well as her right ovary and fallopian tube. We're so grateful to this doctor for helping her.
We met with an oncologist who explained to us that her tumor is a rare and aggressive sarcoma cancer. She will be starting an aggressive chemotherapy treatment soon that requires her to stay in the hospital. Darcy is 41 years old and the kindest person I've ever known, and she is extraordinarily tough. I love her very much, and I want to make sure she gets the treatment she needs. We're asking for any help you can give us to help Darcy fight this cancer.
