Friends of Darcy,
Though our lives exist across the country - and world! - I know we share one thing in common:
We have all at some point in our lives been the very lucky recipients of one or more of Darcy’s remarkable gifts - her deep friendship, her unconditional love, her spot-on advice, her relentless commitment to making the world a better place, and of course, her infectious, one-of-a-kind laugh.
I also know that it can be difficult for people who are givers to be open to receiving gifts in return. But the time has come to surround Darcy with the kind of love and support she has so constantly given us
In May, Darcy was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer. What began as a trip to the ER with abdominal pain progressed in two weeks to her first chemotherapy treatment. She's now completed five rounds of chemotherapy and is planning her next phase of treatment which will likely involve major surgery and other chemotherapy or radiation treatments.
We know that there are many more months of this journey ahead, and we want to help make sure Darcy has everything she needs so she can focus all her energy on her treatment and healing. To that end, in coordination with Darcy's sister Brooke, we are establishing this fund to support Darcy's financial needs, with the hope of removing one stress from a situation that is full of them. That includes support for:
- Food Service for nourishment and ease throughout treatment
- Transportation Costs as subway travel has proven impossible to navigate during chemo
- Cleaning Service to keep her home a sanctuary
- Healthcare not covered by insurance, because sadly, the system remains broken
