Support Dara & James May in Their Time of Need

Many of us know Dara & James May personally. We also know how instrumental they are in our Iowa Fraternal Order of Eagles. They also are amazing with helping locally, at regional, at MINK, and are truly committed to our local community! They work tirelessly to help others and now they have found themselves in a position where they need our help! A few weeks ago, their convertible was totaled due to a run in with our favorite Iowa deer. Shortly thereafter, Dara had major surgery that took her out of work for several weeks. They are so committed to the Fraternal Order of Eagles that they were still set on attending the Grand Convention in Grand Rapids, Michigan this past week. James hadn’t been feeling well, but was cleared to attend by doctors. While in Grand Rapids, James experienced a heart attack and found himself in the hospital there for several days. They also believe that he has possible internal bleeding. After testing it was determined that he had a spot/tumor on his esophagus that could be cancerous. Then, he had a scope with no anesthesia, with biopsy results from that will hopefully be back by tomorrow (Tuesday). Thankfully, they felt he was stable enough to come home with a set appointment at Iowa Heart tomorrow knowing that he has to have surgery right away for an extremely narrowed valve in his heart that will be fatal if not addressed immediately. James and Dara were resting at home today when they received a call this morning that Dara’s Beauty Shop was on fire. The building is a complete loss (check out the Facebook pages for Ottumwa Radio, Albia News, and surrounding areas for more pictures and information). Dara did not have a chance to get her belongings out or those of her late Sister, save a box of tax records and a pair of shears. With James being out of work for the foreseeable future and Dara’s shop being burned to the ground this morning, it is easy to say that our Sister & Brother can use all of the prayers and help that we can give them right now! Please consider helping them financially! Also, make sure that you say an extra prayer daily for them as they try and battle back from everything they have been through! Send your love and prayers to them please!
