OUR STORY:
CoastClean Tanzania is an initiative that works with youths living in vulnerable situations to participate in coastal cleanups!
Dar es Salaam is home to the famous Msasani Beach, a hotspot for both tourists and locals. Increased commercial activity and the use of single-use plastics have polluted the beach and amplified coastal erosion, limiting the accessibility of the beautiful shores. CoastClean Tanzania engages local youths in collecting waste along the shoreline and broader coastal conservation. Additionally, CoastClean aims to divert as much waste away from landfills as possible through sorting and recycling.
Funds will go towards providing the youth with the proper gear and tools to handle all sorts of waste. Our goal is to get youth engaged in taking care of their environment and preserving natural public spaces for the benefit of the community. Having the proper tools will facilitate the collection, sorting, and transportation of waste. The benefits of cleaner beaches include protecting marine life and biodiversity, habitat preservation, keeping communities connected, protecting inland infrastructure, and reducing harmful chemical breakdown. Please help our youth in maintaining the beach!
