In late 2021, I began experiencing movement issues on the left side of my body. After an MRI, doctors discovered an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in the right frontal lobe of my brain. This led to numerous tests, procedures, and hospital stays due to episodes of paralysis. In August 2022, I underwent Gamma Knife radiation to treat the AVM, with the hope of reducing the risk of hemorrhage. Fortunately, earlier this year, I was told the radiation was successful.

However, in August, I again experienced paralysis on the left side and was hospitalized. During this stay, I was diagnosed with Epilepsy and prescribed medicine.

On the evening of October 8, I had another episode of paralysis, but it lasted only a few minutes, which was considered normal based on prior advice from doctors. However, the next day, while at work, the paralysis returned, and I had difficulty speaking for an extended period of time. Concerned, my wife took me to the ER, where tests revealed signs of TIAs (mini-stokes) not only from that episode, but from previous incidents as well. I was unfortunately misdiagnosed and do not suffer from epilepsy. I was admitted to the hospital for 5 days to recover strength and treated for the TIA symptoms.

Since being discharged, I have been home and attending both physical and occupational therapy to regain my strength and mobility, with progress being made each day.
