Hi, my name is Dan. I'm here because I need help. I'm 68 years old and for most of my life, I've been pretty lucky with my health. Recently, it took a turn for the worst. It started about 4 months ago when I started not feeling so well. My job was a physically demanding one. In July, I went downhill. I ended up having 2 surgeries within a month, one for a navel hernia, which I thought would fix the problem. I was good for a while, then on Labor Day evening, I ended up in the ER. This time, I was in so much pain I could barely move. Fortunately, there was a doctor there that asked the right questions, and a few hours later, I was in surgery. I was on the table for about 8 hours, then spent 2 weeks in the hospital recovering. Things were going well, then at the beginning of this month, I started having issues with my blood pressure. Now I have more doctor appointments for my heart. So needless to say, I'm going to be buried in bills even though I have insurance through my job and Medicare Part A. But the job is going to be ending because I have to retire. Now for some more great news, the roof on my house is leaking and I cannot afford to fix it along with some other things. For all of the things that have gone sideways on me recently, my back is against the wall and I don't know which way to turn. I'm also raising my 13-year-old granddaughter. Thankfully, she's a great kid. So that's why I'm here. This wasn't easy for me to come here. I've always managed to work things out, but now that I'm getting older, I've pretty much run out of resources and need help. Thank you in advance for any help you can give.
