Support Dan's Legal Battle for Family Unity

Hi, my name is Dan. I’m a father of four, and until the morning of May 10, 2025, I was deeply involved in my children’s daily lives. I handled school drop-offs, pickups, and worked from home to make sure I was present and available for them. Practically overnight, I went from being a full-time, hands-on dad to having no contact at all.

On May 30, 2025, I was granted limited video calls with two of my children. These are allowed up to four times per week, between 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM. It’s a small but meaningful step, and I’m doing everything I can to show up consistently and respectfully, even from a distance.

Right now, I’m living apart from my family due to a protective order. I want to be clear: I have no history of violence, and I hold no ill will toward anyone. I’ve complied with every request made by my spouse and followed all legal orders. My only goal is to prove my innocence, rebuild trust, and continue being a steady, supportive parent to my kids.

Even while living away from home, I’ve continued helping with bills and doing what I can to support my family. I was able to secure legal help early on through union legal aid, but that funding has run out. To keep working with the attorney who’s been guiding me through this process, I need to pay a retainer of $4,000. Unfortunately, the payment system he uses doesn’t allow me to set up a payment plan, and I can’t cover that amount out of pocket.

There’s also the possibility that this case may expand into criminal proceedings depending on the outcome of the upcoming long-term protective order hearing and an outside investigation. That means legal fees could increase significantly in the coming months.

I’m asking for help to raise $5,000 to continue my legal defense and remain in the fight for my children. This will go directly toward retaining my attorney and handling filing fees. Depending on how things develop, I may need to raise more to cover additional legal steps.

I’ll continue to share updates as I’m able, in a way that protects my children and respects the sensitivity of the situation. I’m not giving up. I’m a father doing everything I can to stay present, consistent, and grounded — even through the hardest moment of my life.
