Our friend, colleague, and pillar of the Vail community, Dano Bruno, has always been someone who gives everything—whether it’s on the mountain, in his work, or in his community. On Saturday, February 21st, Dano was enjoying some fresh snow on Vail Mountain and headed to meet up with his family. While getting off the chairlift, his ski brake became tangled with a snowboarder’s binding. The plan was to ski off together and untangle—but at the last moment, the snowboarder made a sudden turn and road off. Dano fell hard, sustaining a torn ACL, MCL, and meniscus, along with a tibial plateau fracture. To his surprise, his insurance provided through his wife’s employer does not cover the cost of the surgery or any physical therapy required pre and post-surgery. The financial burden for this surgery is significant and without it, he can’t work.

Dano isn’t just a ski industry veteran; he’s a lifelong contributor to his community. He’s lived in the Vail Valley for over 30 years, has worked as a first responder, ski patrol, and search & rescue volunteer, but is most know for helping countless skiers get back on their feet as a top-tier ski boot fitter. His generosity, skill, and passion have touched countless lives—and now he needs our help.

He has surgery scheduled at the end of March, and he will need help with medical bills, transportation, potential lost income, and physical therapy. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a tangible difference in helping Dano recover and return to the mountain he loves.

Dano is a devoted father, husband, friend, and mentor. He has spent his life giving to others—now he needs us. Let’s rally together to give back to someone who has given so much to all of us.
