Hi! My name is Danny. My life is about to change dramatically, and hopefully for the better, but I am humbly asking for help to get there. I've been living with kidney failure since the age of 3 years old, now approaching 37 years old. Since age 16, I've done lifesaving dialysis treatments. I've reached the furthest limits of what home dialysis can provide to keep me healthy, and it's time for me to finally think about a kidney transplant to continue living out my best life possible.
I had a kidney transplant when I was 15 years old; my amazing mom donated her kidney to me. Unfortunately, immediately after, things went south. It felt like everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong... but thankfully I survived with immense help from doctors, family, and friends. Fast forward to today, it's time again to make the hard decisions. With new technology and new drugs, I hope to have a new lease on life, feeling healthy and somewhat normal.
Kidney transplant comes with the hope of finally not worrying about 5 hours a day, 6 days a week of dialysis, and being able to have a life not attached to a machine. But, the recovery is long, 6 months or more to be fully healthy. In that recovery time, life goes on and bills must be paid. I'm reluctant to even go down this GoFundMe route because I know everyone has struggles in life. When I get fully healthy, my plan is to work more than what the universe has afforded me with so much time devoted to dialysis treatments. (I love working!)
I'm asking for help to get me through the recovery time to make sure I have the money to pay bills during the long recovery. I'm very blessed to have countless people help me through life, and especially my loving partner, Maryanna. She is my rock for the last 12 years. Without her, I would surely not have made it through the mental and physical hardships of 18 years attached to a machine. Any help you can give us is appreciated.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, even for just reading my story.
