Hi friends, as we continue to pursue full healing for Danny we wanted to share a bit of the backstory of what’s been going on.
As many of you know, the same month Danny got sick, the rest of our family has also been sick to varying degrees with similar symptoms over the past four months.
In March we had begun the process of potentially buying our rental and had started inspections. The day Danny was discharged from CHOC a mold inspection report brought to light that there has been severe mold growth in the crawlspace beneath our master and Danny’s room for at least an entire year with direct airflow through gaps in the closet flooring into our rooms. This changed everything.
The doctors at CHOC had been a little stumped but with the help of a mold lab analyst and medical team we have now been able to piece together that Danny’s and all of our symptoms are matching up with mold toxicity and exposure throughout this past year.
This has been such an unreal process and discovering this has obviously been an incredibly difficult thing to work through as parents and as a family.
We have not lived in the house since this came to light the day he was discharged. The owner has since refused to remediate according to professional recommendations or accept that Danny’s illness is connected.
We found a godsend Airbnb around the corner from our house and have been able to transition there with the goal of moving into a brand new (mold free ) apartment in Santa Ana on May 3rd.
In the meantime we have a multitude of medical, mold testing, Airbnb and moving costs that have been piling up and we are simply overwhelmed with what this has meant financially.
Any and all of your gifts big and small would mean so much to us as we continue to forge ahead with moving our family and belongings to safety and continuing the path of healing for Danny and us all.
Please feel no pressure to give if you are unable. Your prayers and support in other ways mean just as much. If you are able to give, or have already, thank you. You have no idea how grateful we are for such an incredible community surrounding us in this time of crisis.
Much love,
David & Grace Vera
