Support Danny's Film Education Journey

Hi! I'm Danny Chicon-Ramirez and I'm an NYC based Latino screenwriter, director, and actor whose stories focus on larger than life characters that explore themes of cultural identity, hypermasculinity, and familial relationships inspired by my upbringing within my Latiné community!

Within just a few years, I've been accepted to a number of fellowships within media organizations such as Hook Arts Media, FabNYC, and Loisaida Inc. At the same time I've created short films that have contributed to my mission of increasing Latiné and minority representation in media, playing in a variety of film festivals.

However, my mission has been slowed due to my lack of formal training and lack of industry connections, which is why I applied to one of the best film schools in the world, The University of Southern California for their MFA in Writing for Screen & Television. With the training and industry connections that USC can provide, I'm positive that I elevate my work to the place it needs to be to make a real difference for Latiné and minority diversity on screen.

Having now been accepted into the school, even with the scholarship I've been offered from the Shriram Family Graduate Student Support Fund, I am still searching for ways to cover the $50,000 per year tuition without incurring unmanageable debt by the time I graduate from the two year program in the Spring of 2026.

I've set up this GoFundMe as a way to potentially assist me in affording school supplies, tuition, and other living expenses as I make my journey to Los Angeles, a new city that will no doubt provide its own challenges to adapt to.
